Why You Should Invest in a Large Ironing Board

In every household there is certainly a set of 65 x 19 x 3.5 inches folding ironing board that serves them from generation to generation. We replace them after a few years of use or maybe when you move to a new apartment. If you want to purchase a new one then perhaps you could consider buying a large ironing board.

People think that having large boards are only for those who actually need them like in garment factories or clothing stores where they iron more frequently and by the bulk. But in reality, anyone could benefit from a bigger one.

First, you do not have to get a new board altogether. You just purchase it and attach to your existing one. This would be convenient for use for ironing your blankets, curtains and even your quilt projects. When you buy large sheets of fabric, you could also iron them first before cutting them into your patterns.

Then when you want to fold your iron away, you simply stash this extra board in an ironing board holder. There is even an ironing board cabinet that could be installed in your laundry area for your convenience.

Imagine increasing your workspace to as much as 22" x 59"! You no longer have to worry that you would get your freshly washed blankets or comforters dirty when they drape across the floor. And you immediately easily see which parts are yet to be ironed.

Now all you have to do is iron one piece after the other, and lay them out neatly just beside you since you have lots of space.

A large board is quite easy to install, normally it has a crate which fits perfectly above your regular one and you do not have to get special straps or attachments to keep them in place. But these are quite secure and you do not have to worry that they would wobble and fall down. Of course make sure to avoid placing heavy objects on it.

Some people use them as tables as well. If you want to cut large fabrics for your handicrafts then this is the perfect tool to have. Your children could even help you out, just assign them simple steps to make their own handicrafts and you could all sit around the large board while working. You may lower it a little bit for them. It's a good idea to bond and spend time together.

It could weigh about 24 lbs and the thickness varies from 12 mm and so forth. They are usually made of birch plywood. Normally these boards include a padding and a cloth cover to protect them. Make sure to measure your existing board to check whether the new one would fit well with it. It all depends on the amount of working space that you have at home and also where you would be storing it afterwards.
